Position: Associate Director for Operations (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research - UCAR)
Responsibilities: As Deputy Director of Operations, David Dokken serves as focal point for the secretariat component of the Climate Change Science Program Office (CCSPO). He has edited and produced many major publications on behalf of CCSPO—including the Strategic Plan for the U.S. Climate Change Science Program and The U.S. Climate Change Science Program: Vision for the Program and Highlights of the Scientific Strategic Plan, as well as several editions of the Our Changing Planet series. He manages all aspects of document development—from initial scoping, to review mechanisms, to final deliverable—having vast experience with climate assessments having generated two full Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group II assessments, three Special Reports, and two Technical Papers. Dokken also serves as the CCSPO representative on the CCSP Financial Operations Group (FOG) to identify financial requirements to execute program plans. On behalf of the FOG and the CCSP Director, he also works with other activities funded through the interagency distributed cost mechanism to develop and integrate proposals for support on an annual basis. He is also responsible for systems administration and computer maintenance (requirements definition and implementation), purchasing (vendor interaction and associated contracting implications), UCAR human resources and finance functions, amongst other things. Dokken also undertakes special projects (e.g., managing Government Reviews of IPCC reports).
