| CCSP Synthesis and Assessment Product 1.1 (SAP 1.1) was developed with the benefit of a scientifically rigorous, first draft peer review conducted by a committee appointed by the National Research Council (NRC). Prior to their delivery to the SAP 1.1 Author Team, the NRC review comments, in turn, were reviewed in draft form by a second group of highly qualified experts to ensure that the review met NRC standards. The resultant NRC Review Report was instrumental in shaping the final version of SAP 1.1, and in improving its completeness, sharpening its focus, communicating its conclusions and recommendations, and improving its general readability. We wish to thank the members of the NRC Review Committee: William J. Randel (chair), National Center for Atmospheric Research, Judith A. Curry, Georgia Institute of Technology, Dennis L. Hartmann, University of Washington, Phil Jones, University of East Anglia, Kenneth Kunkel, Illinois State Water Survey, Richard S. Lindzen, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Richard L Smith, University of North Carolina, John Michael Wallace, University of Washington, Junhong Wang, National Center for Atmospheric Research, and also the NRC Staff members who coordinated the process: Chris Elfring, Director, Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate, Parikhit Sinha, Study Director, and Rachael Shiflett, Senior Program Assistant. We also thank the individuals who reviewed the NRC Report in its draft form: James Angell, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Richard Levine, San Diego State University, Jerry Mahlman, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Steven Running, University of Montana, Siegfried Schubert, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and Kevin Trenberth, National Center for Atmospheric Research, and also Eric Barron, Pennsylvania State University, the overseer of the NRC review. The review process for SAP 1.1 also included a public review of the Second Draft, and we thank the individuals who participated in this cycle. All comments submitted were carefully considered by the Author Team, and a substantial number of the comments received resulted in further improvements and clarity of SAP 1.1. Finally, it should be noted that the respective review bodies were not asked to endorse the final version of SAP 1.1, as this was the responsibility of the National Science and Technology Council.
